Ingredients

For the Grinder Salad

  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce

  • 1 small red onion (thinly sliced)

  • ½ cup banana peppers (sliced)

  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes (halved)

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp chili flakes

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

For the Sandwich

  • 1 large Italian sub roll

  • 4–6 slices salami

  • 4–6 slices turkey or ham

  • 2–3 slices provolone cheese

  • Olive oil (optional)

  • Salt & pepper

  • Fresh lettuce (optional)


Instructions

1. Prepare the Grinder Salad

  1. In a bowl, add: shredded lettuce, onions, banana peppers, and tomatoes.

  2. In a separate small bowl, mix the dressing:

    • mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, oregano, chili flakes, garlic powder, pepper, and salt.

  3. Pour the dressing over the veggies.

  4. Mix everything until creamy and fully coated.

  5. Set aside to let flavors absorb.


2. Build the Sandwich

  1. Slice the Italian sub roll lengthwise.

  2. Lightly toast it for extra crunch (optional but recommended).

  3. Layer salami, turkey/ham, and provolone cheese inside the toasted roll.

  4. Add a generous amount of the grinder salad on top.

  5. Drizzle a little olive oil and add extra banana peppers if desired.

  6. Close the sandwich, press gently, and slice.
